Welcome New Member
Sylke Damerau!
Sylke would like to introduce herself...
I was born in Flensburg, a city in the north of Germany directly on the border to Denmark on 29th December 1961.
As a kid, I took ballet lessons and danced my first ballet evenings at the theater. After my graduation I moved to Augsburg, a city in the south of Germany close to Munich.
In Augsburg, I danced at the theater for three years. I got the offer to take over a ballet school. I did that in 1985 at the age of 24.
For almost 35 years now I have been leading the ballet school and educating children in classical ballet. Some of my students have made the leap into a professional career.
I graduated with my teaching diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance - London.
As a supervisor and mentor, I accompanied students on their way to becoming a dance teacher in the Academy.
In order to expand my pedagogical knowledge I studied educational science at the university.
I live privately for 10 years in Hamburg with my partner and my son.
I have been a member of Rotary since 2011.  Due to my job situation and much traveling, for me at the moment only a membership in an e-club works for me. In 2016, I switched to Portugal for E-Club Porches International for that reason. In my spare time I spend a lot of time in Portugal. In the E Club Porches, I held the position of treasurer, secretary and president.

I look forward to meeting everyone soon!
