The Four Way Test

President's Message

Ozlem Kocanaogullari
President 2019-2020
Greetings fellow Rotarians and guests!
Welcome to the Rotary E-Club of One World!

Dear Fellow OWR Members,

I hope that you are all safe and healthy.

I have been in voluntary / at times compulsory lockdown with my mother for the past month. Yes, it has been a full month. I now realize this is a completely different type of lifestyle. While I felt trapped after traveling freely around the globe as my heart desired, I have also come to understand that I was mostly tired too. This gave me an opportunity to slow down and listen to myself. I was free to see my friends at any time I like, but we hardly have any time for each other. I realize now I reach out to more of them and more often. And even though it might just be online, I have seen more of them this month than I have in the past year. I was always busy with work, there were always things to read, things to study. But now I am more focused when I read because I have time to take one task at a time. And I feel I am more creative when I write. I feel I have more time to quench my curiosity; I now have time to read columns online that I never used to read before. Last but not least,

I am thankful to spend more time with my mom. So, it is not very easy being trapped in this lifestyle for God knows how much longer. But I do try to make the best of it. We all know it will not be forever; before you know it, lockdown will be over. Work will be hectic, people will be traveling again with no time for themselves. We will perhaps remember these days fondly and say, despite the fear of the virus, it was a nice time-out while it lasted.

The members of the Board of Directors and the officers of our club is working hard in coming up with projects to help people who are in need, who might perhaps not be living this so-called time-out period as swiftly and casually as some of us do. Our proposed projects aim to help people who might be living in any of the countries where one of our members live, and we do not focus on the communities of our own District solely. Having said this, should you have a nice idea for a project that our club can engage in, please post this on Workplace, or email me or anyone of our directors or officers.

Our fellowship assembly meetings continue to be held every first Saturday of the month, and Board of Directors meetings every third Saturday of the month. They are both on zoom. You are invited to attend any one of them. We will love to see you and hear how you have been doing in these extraordinary days.
Best wishes,

Ozlem Kocanaogullari

President 2019-2020
