Our Program for July 11th, 2021
Technology we use in our Eclub

The Technology we use in our Eclub
Club Service presents this program

As an Eclub we embrace technology more than other Rotary clubs, however, since the pandemic all clubs around the world have gotten acquainted with many different types of technologies.

This is the first program of the Rotary year and how great to start with explaining the different communication tools we use to stay in touch with all our members.

We have three major applications we use regularly:

  1. Zoom
  2. Teams
  3. WhatsApp

Zoom is a teleconferencing software that is free to use for the end-user. Our Eclub has a professional account which all of our members can use if they need to record a meeting for their projects or when they interview someone for our programs. We have a few of our members that use our login regularly. If at any time you wish to use our account please contact me (click here) and we will give you the necessary information.

Zoom works as follows; we send you a monthly link for our Fellowship meetings (which are scheduled for the first Saturday of each month). Now when you click on the link and you have never attended a Zoom meeting your computer (Mac or PC) will instantly download what is needed. Make sure to double-check your video camera and your sound before entering a meeting! For security reasons we also give you a meeting id number and a password. This you might need, so keep that information close at hand when you log in.

There is nothing too difficult about Zoom and we look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!

Teams is a collaboration app that helps our Eclub to have all our conversations in one place. Once you are logged in make sure of one thing!!! To get notifications per channel. What does this mean?

We created channels to make navigation easy for you; you will find all of them in the left panel (see screenshot)

As you can see our main channel is called "OUR ECLUB (REOW). To get notifications, click on the 3 dots at the top-hand corner of the window of the name of that particular channel. You will need to repeat this for each channel if you want to be notified.

I will be available for one on one sessions or in group to answer your questions.

WhatsApp uses your phone's cellular or Wi-Fi connection to facilitate messaging and voice calling to nearly anyone in the world. The reason the REOW group was created a few months ago is to facilitate for our members to stay in touch not only with each other but with the ongoing projects in our Eclub. We noticed that there are still too many members not using Teams and we realize that it is not always easy to access wifi or the internet on a laptop. Thus having your mobile phone which you already have in your back pocket will make it even easier to stay connected with your fellow Rotarians.

As a closing, I would like to propose to anyone who has NOT yet had the chance to log in to Teams or Whatsapp to do it soon so that you too feel part of our Eclub and part of the Rotarian family. The theme of this year 2021-2022 is Serve to Change Lives. Let's start changing lives by connecting to each other!

Thank you,
