The Four Way Test

President's Message

Ken Meyer

President 2020-2021
Greetings fellow Rotarians and guests!
Welcome to the Rotary E-Club of One World!

Dear members, visitors, and future members of Rotary E-Club of One World:
With everything competing for our time, including dealing with the pandemic, let’s continue to make time for Rotary’s principal humanitarian effort—eradicating Polio from the face of the earth.
As stated on the Rotary International website:
“Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 30 years. Our goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever.
As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, we've reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.

We've helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries. So far, Rotary has contributed more than $1.8 billion toward eradicating the disease worldwide.

Today, polio remains endemic only in Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Pakistan. But it’s crucial to continue working to keep other countries polio-free. If all eradication efforts stopped today, within 10 years, polio could paralyze as many as 200,000 children each year.”
On August 11th, District 5240 Governor Deb Linden sent each of us an email with the subject “Rotary: Step Up to Take Down Polio!”  She asked, “Are you ready to help kick Polio’s butt?? Do you want to do something to raise funds for Rotary’s PolioPlus program even during COVID?”  Our answer as a club and as individual club members to all these questions should be a resounding, YES!
The steps outlined by DG Deb are simple:

First...Pick your fitness activity and your personal fitness goal for raising funds for Polio Plus;

Second... create a personal fundraising page on the Step Up for Rotary website

Third...share your fundraising page with friends and family (and anyone else you can think of) asking for donations to support your Polio fundraising.

Let’s all sign up and share the link and some pictures from our fundraising page on Workplace while also sharing our page with friends and family.  This is exactly the type of activity that we can all participate in together even though we live in different countries and time zones.
For my part, I am going to Step Up for Rotary on the treadmill to fight polio.
What will be your plan?  We can challenge each other and have a lot of healthy fun for a great cause.

culture - diversity - growth
To all of our Eclub members and other Rotarians around the world,
We are blessed to have a fellow Rotarian move to our Eclub of One World this summer. Christy Swatzell has a very interesting personal story she is willing to share and has traveled the world. We are thankful that she is willing to share her story and adventures with us, her Rotarian Family.
We hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Enjoy and stay safe everyone,
Thank you,
