The Four Way Test

President's Message

Ken Meyer

President 2020-2021
Greetings fellow Rotarians and guests!
Welcome to the Rotary E-Club of One World!

Dear Rotary E-Club of One World:
We are now halfway through the current Rotary year which began on July 1, 2020, and will end on June 30, 2021. That fact together with the current holiday season naturally invites reflection on how things are going.
I have not spent much time in my president’s messages on the topic that has dominated this year—COVID 19 and its devastating effects at all levels of our lives. With the recent start of the roll-out of approved vaccines, I hope that when our club’s incoming president, Pat Fisher, is at this point in her term as president that the virus will be under control.
In the meantime, may you, your family, and friends stay healthy and safe.  Our club has done one COVID 19 assistance project.  Maybe we should do more. Even with all the resources going into controlling the pandemic and its harms, what we do on a smaller scale can still be targeted and take care of a need that is being missed.
Please, if you have any ideas or see needs not being addressed, bring these up in person with our board members or on Workplace so that we can discuss them and do our part to help.
Thank you for what I know that each of you is doing individually to lift one another’s burdens. For all the physical needs that have been created with the pandemic, the need to help people not feel isolated and alone is ever-present.
I look forward to this coming calendar year to spending more time in fellowship assemblies with each of you and in doing more service projects as a club. One new development in club projects is the recent board action on the request of member Claudine Schooley that our club be the international sponsor club for the Global Grant for Ukraine with “Heart of Europe.” Claudine has presented to our club on this wheelchair project in two club programs, she has presented the project to the District 5240 international service committee, our club service projects committee, and to our full board. And our board in its December board meeting voted unanimously to agree to be the sponsor club for the Global Grant for Ukraine with “Heart of Europe.”

Further, the board voted to approve raising funds in support of this project in the amount of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00).  Thanks to Claudine for her hard work. And working together with Claudine going forward we can do our part to see that Claudine is successful in this global grant application.
Take care. See you soon at our next club function. Let’s bring in the New Year ready to have fun as fellow Rotarians giving Service Above Self in the Rotary E-Club of One World.
Each of you are making a difference and opening doors of opportunity.
Ken Meyer, Club President 2020-2021

How Rotary Foundation Works
Sharing from the website of Rotary District 5020
This seems a very appropriate way to close the year... by learning a bit more about Rotary Foundation.
It is a season of giving after all and our Eclub has new members and we might learn something new in this short presentation.
Rotary Foundation works 24/7, all year long in helping make projects come to life. Lives are changed forever!
Thank you John Matthews for sharing your presentation on the website of District 5020.
