Wheelchairs needed worldwide

It is estimated that the need for wheelchair by those who cannot afford to buy one is over 100,000,000, yes 100 Hundred Million!!

Our club has sponsored, and the project has been funded, to ship 550 wheelchairs to Tampico, Mexico. They will arrive this Rotary year.
OneWordRotary has sponsored a second shipment of 550 wheelchairs to Guyana. This is being funded by our club, Carpinteria Morning RC and, primarily by Simi Sunrise RC.
Our Club is funding by offering a $1,000 PHF for $500 matching. (Last week's program covered the PHF). If any Rotarian is interested, please contactstrayerD@aol.com. There is a limit on the number available. The chairs that we will be shipping are purchased from The Free Wheelchair Mission (FWM). FWM is used as they are reliable, readily available at a very reasonable cost which allows us to ship more wheelchairs to the needy.

WHEELCHAIRS DO NOT JUST PROVIDE MOBILITY AND HOPE, BUT ALSO DIGNITY.

This will be obvious in the following videos. There are 4 videos, when done click the tab on that video to close.

There is one also a Powerpoint presentation after the videos that takes about 30 seconds to download.

The first video gives a sample of the problem that exists on a worldwide basis

The next video reflects one man's experience and the FWM second generation chair which we will be shipping to Mexico and Guyana

This video shows what a wheelchair does for a child in South Africa that would otherwise never leave her home.

Marc Vertin, our Foundation Chair and Dick Strayer, our President, are highlighted in this PowerPoint of a Shipment of 550 wheelchairs to the Philippines.

Click here to download the PowerPoint presentation (it will take about 30 seconds to download).

The Wheelchair Foundation is another major organization that provides free wheelchairs. This organization's wheelchair is more expensive with restrictions on Rotary involvement. The following is an excellent video with narrative.

If you want to participate in providing mobility and dignity to someone in Guyana, please contact strayerD@aol.com. A limited number of matching PHF are available for $500.
