Greetings fellow Rotarians and guests!
Welcome to the
Rotary E-Club of One World!
This week I am again pleased to welcome two of our newest members, Tomica "Nickey" Bess and Osbert Julian Nurse, who are both from Georgetown, Guyana and sponsored by OWR Past President Amanda Richards.

Tomica is employed by the Iwokrama International Centre for Rain Forest Conservation and Development and is the Accounts Manager with substantive responsibility for Finance Management.  She has degrees from the Commonwealth Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Management Certified Accounting Technician (CAT).  She is currently exploring the option of further studies with ACCA or Climate Change/Carbon Credit Financing.
Tomica has over sixteen (16) years of experience in Administration, Accounting and Finance and has been a Rotarian for the last two years.  Her interests are volunteering, early childhood education, mentoring, event planning and management, reading, swimming and playing lawn tennis.  She is also a contributor/donor to the Ruimveldt Children’s Home & Care Center.
Tomica is also a former member of the University of Guyana International Affairs Association and is the Past President, Treasurer and Secretary of Trinity Methodist Church Youth & Young Adult Group.
Osbert Julian Nurse
Osbert is 32 years old, married with one child, his beautiful daughter Nayeli. He has been a Lecturer and a Farm Manager at the Guyana School of Agriculture, Mon Repos Campus for the past five years.  His job includes, the effective management for the year-round sustainable crop farm operation in an educational environment. He is also a lecturer for subjects such as, Physics, Seed Technology, Entomology, Plant Pathology and Pasture Development and Management.  He is also involved in a number of Community Agriculture Development Projects, both with the Government of Guyana, UN Agencies and NGOs.
In 2013, he was introduced to Rotaract as a guest through his involvement in agricultural community work.  He has since maintained a working relationship with the Rotaract and Rotary family in his country, where he worked on a number of community projects.
Growing up in a rural community provided him with the opportunity to experience and embrace the way-of-life of those community members and the challenges they faced daily in their lives.  His great passion is bringing relief to people who have been through circumstances that threatens or will eventually threaten their livelihoods.  He has been able to help communities to provide healthy food production for themselves with the introduction of sustainable agricultural practices.
Osbert’s educational background includes a BSc in Agronomy from the University of Ciego de Avila, Cuba, and a Post graduate diploma in Education (Higher Education) from the University of Guyana.  He is currently completing MBA with the Australian Institute of Business.  He also has a Diploma in Agriculture from the Guyana School of Agriculture, a Diploma in Rural Tourism from the Colegio de Postgrados, Veracruz (Mexico) and a Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation from the International Program for Development Evaluation Training (IPDEP) and Ministry of Finance, Georgetown (Guyana).
Welcome Tomica and Osbert!
