Greetings fellow Rotarians and guests!
Welcome to the Rotary E-Club of One World!
Nice to be back together with you for another meeting.
Our district had the District Assembly Meeting last weekend. Our very own Susan Weaver, Executive Secretary, attended this meeting to represent our club. Just like you, I am eager to find out all that has happened and the impact of such meeting for our club.
October 17th is recognized as UN’s International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. As you also know, the 2015 Millennium Development Goals as adopted by the United Nations are replaced by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for 2030. Rotary strives to help achieve such goals, and partners with similar organizations in order to maximize resources, to increase the impact of the project, and to ensure its longevity.
United Nations’ SDG no 1, 2, 8 and 17 fall nicely in line with the Rotary theme (Economic and Community Development) of this month: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Partnerships for Goals. Therefore, when searching for international projects that our club will support in the future, it would be a good idea to keep in mind the UN Sustainable Development Goals and to align our work so that such goals can be achieved.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Yours in Rotary,
Ozlem Kocanaogullari
